Indian Railways has launched a new train 04047 Siddhabali Jan Shatabdi Special connecting Kotdwar and the national capital Delhi which will cater to the massive pent up demand for railway travel of the region. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal flagged off the 04047/08 Siddhabali Jan Shatabdi Special train through video conferencing on 3rd March, 2021. He said the service would bring socio-economic development to Uttarakhand and the surrounding areas.
Goyal informed that Kotdwar-Delhi route electrification is almost complete and only a 15 km stretch is pending which is expected to be completed by the end of the month. The minister expressed his gratitude to the hard-working employees of the railway who didn’t stop serving the nation even during a deadly pandemic by supplying medical equipment, coal, medicines and other essential items.
Schedule and Stoppages of Jan Shatabdi Express
Train no. 04047 Siddhabali Jan Shatabdi Special will depart from the source station Kotdwar (KTW) at 15.50 hrs and will reach the destination station Delhi Junction at 22.20 hrs on the same day. Likewise on its way back train no. 04048 Siddhabali Jan Shatabdi Special will start from its source station Delhi (DLI) at 07.00 hrs and will reach Kotdwar (KTW) at 13.40 hrs on the same day. It will have stoppages at Najibabad Jn, Muazzampur Narain Jn, Bijnor, Haldaur, Chand Siau, Mandi Dhanaura, Gajraula, Hapur, Ghaziabad enroute in both directions.

The newly launched train is equipped with modern LHB Coaches which includes AC Chaircar, Chair Car coaches & two Generator coaches. All the wagons will run on electric traction in the entire Uttarakhand region which will also help save the environment. This electrification move will ensure net-zero carbon emission and protection of the environment in the State. Kotdwar- Delhi Jan Shatabdi will feel like divine intervention for the pilgrims visiting Sidhbali temple who will benefit greatly with improved connectivity.
Railway projects in Uttarakhand
The government has made massive inroads in laying new railway lines and completing soon to be launched rail corridors and new routes connecting previously unconnected locations. The three new lines projects are underway in Uttarakhand, the work of the railway line between Rishikesh and Karn Prayag is progressing swiftly. Goyal also said that other railway projects in Uttarakhand are progressing well. Rs 4,432 crore have been earmarked for railway projects in the recently announced 2021-22 budget which is almost 23 times more than the average budget of 2009-14 for the state.
