Now, passengers can get medical tests done at the railway station by paying nominal charges. Indian Railways installs a health ATM kiosk for passengers at Lucknow Junction that comes under North Eastern Railway zone. As per the Ministry of Railways, travellers can now get their health check-up done at the station by paying charges ranging between Rs 10 to Rs 50.
In order to provide affordable medical tests services to passengers and railway employees, VK Yadav, Railway Board Chairman, has inaugurated the health ATM Kiosk at Lucknow Railway Station. Through the health ATM kiosk, passengers can check 16 parameters related to health which are, bone mass, body fat, hydration, pulse rate, height, muscle mass, body temperature, oxygen saturation, basal metabolic rate, muscle quality score, metabolic age, Systolic BP, weight and body mass index.
All you need to know about the health ATM
One can easily get the health check-up done by simply standing in front of the machine. After that enter your personal and basic details like name, contact details, fingerprint. As a cherry on top, it gives instant health reports to the passengers. For the convenience of the travellers, a medical attendant is also present at the health ATM kiosk.
Significance of Medical Check-ups
It is a very thoughtful initiative by Indian Railways as nowadays most people do not have much time to look upon their health. And sparing 2-3 minutes while waiting for the train is no big deal. This initiative is a step forward in creating awareness about the importance of health by the Ministry of Railways.
In addition to this, Indian Railways is also planning to come up with a pilot project of health testing machines wherein doctor consultation facilities will be provided to the passengers at platforms through videoconferencing.
This project aims to give bio-testing amenities to passengers at platforms. Travellers can simply walk near the machine to get a medical check-up done or can also consult a well-known health provider via HD Videoconferencing. As per the senior railway official, the health ATM Kiosk looks similar to the ATM cash machine which is also furnished with medical devices to stream biomedical details, health history records and live video consultation with reputed doctors.
