COVID 19 Special Trains

Amid COVID-19 lockdown, the Ministry of Railways has planned to gradually restart passenger train operations from Tuesday initially with 15 pairs of trains that are running as special trains from New Delhi station connecting 15 important cities of the country. Here is the details of each covid special train, its schedule and fare:

1. 02301 Howrah New Delhi Covid 19 AC Special Express: It will leave Howrah at 17:05 and will reach New Delhi at 10:00 on the next day. It will run daily starting from May 12. The special passenger train services are in addition to the Shramik special trains that are already running to transport the stranded migrants. Rest all mail, express and suburban train services continue to remain cancelled until further notice. Here are more details when travelling in these trains:

• Passengers who want to travel in the COVID-19 special train can book online tickets only via IRCTC website.

• The maximum advance reservation period (ARP) for covid special passenger trains is 7 days only.

• Passengers with only valid confirmed tickets are allowed to enter railway stations.

• Booking of RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation), waiting list (WL) ticket and concession ticket is not applicable to these trains.

• Current booking, tatkal quota (TQ), premium tatkal quota (PT) is also not permitted.

• Passengers can book their tickets in lower berth quota.

• No catering charges are included in the ticket fare. Passengers are encouraged to bring their own food and bottled water.

• Dry or ready-to-eat food and bottled water would be provided to the travellers on demand inside the trains on payment basis.

Travel Advisory
Passengers are required to reach the railway station 90 minutes ahead of train departure time. All the passengers travelling on the train are going to be screened for coronavirus and those found asymptomatic are only allowed to travel. It is compulsory for all passengers to wear face cover or masks. All the passengers must download the Aarogya Setu mobile app. All the passengers are required to observe social distancing both at the station and on the train. Passengers are advised to carry their own linen / blankets as No linen, blankets and curtains would be provided to the passengers inside the trains. On arrival at the destination, the passengers need to adhere to health protocols prescribed by the state/ UTs which might include remaining in state government designated quarantine centers for 14 days. No stalls or booths on the platforms shall be opened. In addition to this no train side vending would be allowed.

Cancellation Rules
Passengers can cancel their ticket until 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train. Passengers are not permitted to cancel their tickets if less than 24 hours would be remaining in departure time of the train. The cancellation charges are 50 percent of the ticket fare.
