Bhubaneswar Weekly Festival Train

Services of the weekly superfast festival special train between Rameswaram and Bhubaneswar have been extended till June. Train no. 08496 Bhubaneswar Rameswaram weekly superfast festival will run on April 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, May 7, 14, 21 and 28 and June 4, 11, 18 and 25.

Likewise on the return journey, train no 08495 Rameswaram Bhubaneswar Festival Special will run on April 4, 11, 18 and 25, May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 and June 6, 13, 20 and 27.

Train timings and stoppages
Train no 08496 Bhubaneswar Rameswaram Weekly Special - This train departs from the source station Bhubaneswar (BBS) at 12:10 and reaches the destination station Rameswaram (RMM) at 22:30. It takes 34 hrs 20 minutes to cover the distance of 1895 km between Bhubaneswar and Rameswaram.

Train no 08495 Rameswaram Bhubaneswar Festival Special - This train departs from the source station Rameswaram (RMM) at 08:50 and arrives at the destination Bhubaneswar station (BBS) at 18:10. It takes 33 hrs 20 minutes to cover the distance of 1895 km between Rameswaram and Bhubaneswar.

Covid Special Trains
Indian Railways had suspended all passenger trains due to the imposition of a nationwide lockdown from March 25. However, it resumed services in a phased manner, with 15 pairs of Shramik Special trains to help stranded migrant workers reach their home states from May 1. However the full restoration of the regular passenger train services to the pre-pandemic level will be considered by Indian Railways, keeping in mind a range of factors as well as operational circumstances.

At present the national transporter has operationalized almost 65% of the mail and express trains as well as over 90% of the suburban train services as compared to the pre Covid-19 lockdown times. The Railway Ministry said that COVID-19 is still around and in fact, in some states, including Maharashtra, Gujarat and Kerala, the condition is worsening. Visitors and travelers from various states are being subjected to screening in other areas as well as discouraged to travel. At the moment, 1,250 mail and express trains, 5,350 suburban train services as well as over 326 passenger trains are in operation on an average.
