The Indian Railways is modifying the routes of over 100 trains as part of the development of the New Delhi railway station on a world scale, limiting only the premium trains like the Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, and Vande Bharat to this new station.
The first phase of redevelopment will take up 5 out of 16 platforms, and premium trains will run from Platform 6 to 16. Many trains will run from other stations, such as Old Delhi and Ghaziabad.
Trains such as Superfast, Mail, Express, Intercity, and other passenger trains will be moved from New Delhi to Old Delhi while others will continue to serve Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Tilak Bridge, Safdarjung, Delhi Cantt, and other small stations.
A letter has already been sent to the Central PWD to widen the roads connecting these small stations in order to prevent traffic jams that will affect travellers.
Amrit Bharat Scheme
A new “Amrit Bharat Scheme” is being implemented by the railways in order to modernize 1000 small but important railway stations. There has been a statement from an official stating that identifying small stations is based on their footfall and the cities they serve.
A few of these stations are New Delhi, Ghaziabad, Kanpur Central, Chandigarh, Prayagraj, Bangalore Cantt., Ayodhya, Puducherry, etc.
It will provide passengers with transit facilities that are efficient, convenient, and comfortable as part of the Amrit Bharat Scheme to improve stations in the long run. In order to meet the requirements of each individual station, the plan is very meticulous.
