Restoration of Special trains

The deadly Covid-19 pandemic has changed the lives of almost every individual in some capacity or another. The number of positive cases has peaked in the ongoing 2nd wave, but the fear and psychosis still remains. To ease the burden of the railway passengers in these trying times of Covid-19, Southern Railway division has decided to restore the services of 4 Special Trains in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu region .

Many trains had been cancelled by the Indian railways due to poor occupancy rate of passengers amid an alarming rise in Covid-19 cases in the Southern regions of India.

Train Timings and Stoppages

The train 02028 KSR Bengaluru MGR Chennai Central Shatabdi Special will depart from its base station Bengaluru City Jn (SBC) at 06:00 am and arrive at the destination station Chennai Central (MAS) at 11:00 am the same day. This train will have stops at Bengaluru Cant and Katpadi Jn. The train will run from 21st July, 2021 till further notice.

On the return journey the train 02027 MGR Chennai Central KSR Bengaluru Shatabdi Special will depart from its base station Chennai Central (MAS) at 05:30 pm and arrive at the destination station Bengaluru City Jn (SBC) at 10:25 pm the same day. En route this train will halt at Katpadi Jn and Bengaluru Cant. The train will run from 21st July, 2021 till further notice.

The train 07333 Hubballi MGR Chennai Central Express Special will depart from its base station Hubli Jn (UBL) at 09:25 pm and arrive at the destination station Chennai Central (MAS) at 11:10 am the next day. This train will have stops at Gadag Jn, Koppal, Hospet Jn, Bellary Jn, Renigunta Jn, and Perambur. The train will run from 21st July 2021 till further notice.

On the return journey the train 07334 MGR Chennai Central Hubballi Express Special will depart from its base station Chennai Central (MAS) at 03:50 pm and arrive at the destination station Hubli Jn (UBL) at 05:05 am the next day. En route this train will halt at Arakkonam, Renigunta Jn, Guntakal Jn, Bellary Jn, Koppal and Gadag Jn. The train will run from 22nd July, 2021 till further notice.

Indian Railway is restoring its passenger train services to almost pre Covid-19 levels, provided India gets control of the virus which is ravaging the country in a deadly second wave. These trains are also likely to be special trains only and not regular passenger services.
