In a significant move, the names of eight railway stations in Uttar Pradesh have been changed. A notification has been issued by Northern Railway for the changing the names.
This decision, approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs and executed by Indian Railways, aims to reflect the cultural and historical significance of the regions.
List of Renamed Stations:
- Fursatganj is now Tapeshwarnath Dham.
- Kasimpur Halt has been renamed to Jais City.
- Jais will now be known as Guru Gorakhnath Dham.
- Bani is renamed to Swami Parmahans.
- Misrauli is now Maa Kalikan Dham.
- Nihalgarh has been changed to Maharaja Bijli Pasi.
- Akbarganj is now Maa Ahorwa Bhawani Dham.

This change was initiated by former Union Minister and Amethi MP, Smriti Irani, who had written to the Home and Railway Ministers requesting the renaming.
Travelers are advised to check the new names before booking their tickets to avoid any confusion. This renaming is part of a broader effort to rename various places and institutions in Uttar Pradesh to better reflect their cultural and historical identities.
