Passengers may also send their requests as SMS to 58888 by typing CLEAN <10-digit PNR number>. The basic functionality of R-Mitra (Railway Mobile Instant Tracking Response and Assistance) is to alert the nearest RPF inspector and divisional security control room in case of any emergency with the press of a button only. The app works both online and offline in SMS mode by using the helpline number 56161. Oh! I accidently pressed the emergency button and got called back within 10 seconds. So although the response is great, have known it does not work many a times.
