Due to non-interlocking and other maintenance work, the Indian Railways has cancelled several trains running on major routes. Passengers are advised to take note of any changes in train schedules and make appropriate arrangements.
Few Western Railway trains will be affected by ongoing non-interlocking work in connection with doubling work between Nandkhas – Moth – Erich Road – Parauna stations on the North Central Railway's Jhansi – Kanpur Central single line section.
Here’s the list of cancelled trains:
- Train no. 09465 Ahmedabad – Darbhanga Weekly Special on 17th December.
- Train no. 09466 Darbhanga – Ahmedabad Weekly Special on 20th December.
- Train no. 20414 Indore – Varanasi Mahakal Superfast Express on 21st December.
- Train no. 20413 Varanasi – Indore Mahakal Superfast Express on 22nd December.
- Also, some trains have been diverted via Jhansi – Gwalior – Bhind – Etawah – Kanpur Central.
The West Central Railway has cancelled 14 trains including the Humsafar and Bhopal-Bilaspur Express on different dates until 22nd December due to ongoing work on the third railway line.
- Train no. 22169 Rani Kamlapati – Santragachi Humsafar Express will remain cancelled from 15th to 22nd December.
- Train no. 22170 Santragachi – Rani Kamlapati Humsafar Express will remain cancelled from 16th to 23rd December.
- Train no. 18236 Bilaspur – Bhopal Express will remain cancelled from 14th to 22nd December.
- Train no. 18235 Bhopal – Bilaspur Express will remain cancelled from 13th to 21st December.
- Train no. 12597 Gorakhpur – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Weekly Express will remain cancelled on 14th and 21st December.
- Train no. 12598 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus – Gorakhpur Weekly Express will remain cancelled on 15th and 22nd December.
Due to pre-non interlock and non-interlock works between Chhapra – Ballia rail section, train services have been affected. The North Eastern Railway has decided to cancel, divert, control, short terminate, short originate and reschedule several trains.
- Train no. 15115 Chhapra – Delhi Express will remain cancelled on 18th December.
- Train no. 15116 Delhi – Chhapra Express will remain cancelled on 19th December.
- Train no. 19045 Surat – Chhapra Express scheduled to run from Surat from 15th to 23rd December will be short terminated at Ballia.
- Train no. 19046 Chhapra – Surat Express will start from Ballia instead of Chhapra from 17th December to 25th December

Southern Railway announced that to facilitate Engineering works in various sections of Trivandrum Division, fixed time corridor Blocks have been permitted for the month of December, 2021 as detailed below
Short termination of train services
- Train No. 16127 Chennai Egmore – Guruvayur Daily Express scheduled to leave Chennai Egmore at 09.00 Hrs on 15th, 16th, 17th and 19th December, 2021 will be short terminated at Ernakulam Jn and will run from Chennai Egmore to Ernakulam Jn only.
- Train No. 16325 Nilambur Road – Kottayam Daily Express scheduled to leave Nilambur Road at 15.10 Hrs on 22nd, 24th, 27th, 28th and 29th December, 2021 will be short terminated at Aluva and will run from Nilambur Road to Aluva only.
- Train No. 16306 Kannur – Ernakulam Jn Daily Express scheduled to leave Kannur 14.50 Hrs on 22nd, 24th, 27th, 28th and 29th December, 2021 will be short terminated at Aluva and will run from Kannur to Aluva only.
