Indian Railways has finally announced the restoration of normal trains operational before the COVID-19 pandemic from December 10, 2021. The decision will allow passengers to travel in trains with lower tariffs than special trains that have been operating since the pandemic forced Indian Railways to take critical measures to combat the spread of coronavirus. Several restrictions placed by the Indian Railways during the COVID outbreak have gradually been relaxed. And these most recent rulings are intended to provide relief to travellers who were facing high ticket prices.

The passengers will be able to travel on unreserved tickets in 31 trains beginning December 10, 2021. While the Indian Railways has swiftly ordered the reinstatement of all trains that were in service before the COVID-19 pandemic. The step taken is going to be extremely useful for the passengers travelling from railways. However, the passengers will still have to follow the COVID-19 protocols set by the Indian railways, a year prior, during their journey.
The Railways issued an order last month to eliminate the special tag for mail and express trains and revert to pre-pandemic ticket fare with immediate effect.
As the pandemic-induced lockdown was eased, Indian railways have been operating special trains to minimize crowding and give convenience to passengers. It started with long-distance trains, but now even short-distance passenger services are being run as special trains with slightly higher prices.
The Railway Board stated in a letter to the zonal railways last month that trains will now be operated with their usual numbers and tickets will revert to pre-Covid levels. Moreover, the Indian Railways has also announced that Divyang and women passengers will also be able to book train tickets in reserved coaches with ease by booking the unreserved tickets.
